8telier

I love it when people see the potential in Seattle especially when it comes to fashion. This past November I was invited to the opening of 8telier at Pacific Place where the owners, Jean and Craig Glover, who recently relocated from Manhattan, opened their doors to Seattleites. With a background in architecture, Jean's design are minimalist with a little edge, well made and functional. I was impressed when she explained to me how easy it is to care for one of her jackets. I've since been back to 8telier and each time Jean was on the *floor super friendly, talking to customers and excited about the clothes. It's a must see if you're in the area but you have to love the color black as much as I do!

*When I say floor, I mean sales floor. You know that right? ;)

Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's

love, youalove, youalove, youalove, youalove, youalove, youalove, youa
One of my favorite things to photograph is window displays. There’s no directing necessary, the lights are placed appropriately to accentuate the products and the story telling has been thought out and constructed ready for your take on it with your vision – it’s every photographer’s dream shoot. Bergdorf is absolutely one of my favorite windows to shoot. It’s so visually stimulating! Each time I stand back to look at it, I discover something new. It amazes me. I hope I was able to do Bergdorf justice.

The Princess and Her Flower Crown

mfc001 mfc003 mfc002
As little girls my sisters and I would sit outside for hours in our poofy dresses and crooked pigtails picking as many flowers as our little hands can carry to create flower crowns for each other. I was never good at making flower crowns. I could never figure out how the girls at school could make such robust lively flower crowns while mine always looked dehydrated and depressed.
I count myself bless to be able to say my sisters and I still get together (minus the pigtails) to do this. A few months ago we create flower crowns for a photo shoot we're planning this summer. Days later, Mailee, my baby sister shows up to a family dinner after work wearing this exact outfit with my flower crown. How she can work 8+ hours and look this good? I have no clue. I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of her.
Thanks Mailee for your willingness to model for me whenever I want to practice shooting. In my defense, you're gorgeous and such an easy subject to photography.

Nordstrom Designer Preview 2013

All images taken by me and copyright Team Photogenic.

Nordstrom always knows the way to my heart. Last Thursday I spent my evening with Oscar, Micheal, and Valentino (...just to name a few) lusting over their fall collection. Magnificent right???

Northwest Hope and Healing Fashion Show

When I received an invitation to attend the Northwest Hope and Healing fashion show benefit I immediately knew this was an event I wanted to support. I think it's safe to say that we all know of someone who has had to deal with cancer... whether it be a family member or a loved one of a friend you know but I was really surprised to learn that our state has the highest rate of breast cancer cases (according to the American Cancer Society)! Yikes! The Northwest Hope and Healing foundation is about providing breast cancer patients in the Seattle area help to get through this tough time. Cancer can be scary and tough to get through and this amazing foundation ensures that cancer patients will get the support they need.

This event was definitely filled with emotions and there was a unique atmosphere of support that I've never felt at any other event. It was sweet to see cancer survivors walk down the runway showing us their numbers of being cancer free while their family in the audience cheered for them!

P.S. The next event is the Alki Beach 5k Walk & Run

Backstage at the AIA Fashion Show

This was my first time being backstage of a show from start to finish. I got to see models getting their hair, make up and nails done… having an up close look at garments… feeling the high energy and excitement of when the models take the stage… witnessing how quickly models need to get dressed and undress for the next look… and capturing all of this while trying to stay out of everyone’s way. I’m usually the quiet photographer all dressed in black standing at a distance waiting for my shot. I love absorbing everything that’s going on from behind my lens…
