Peonies in Black and White

These are the last boutique of peonies I picked up from the market. Peonies are my favorite flowers and they are so beautiful but I think I love them more so for what they represent to me. Peonies are usually available in the spring and if you live in Seattle you can understand how long and gloomy the winters can be. When peonies floods the market, I feel like better days are yet to come with new beginnings, sunshine and warmer weather.

Dreaming of Paris

As a little girl, to compensate for the things I wish I had I would fantasize about them all day. The places I’d go, the things I’d have and the adventures I’d embark. Then I learned how to read and that took my imagination to another level. Stories I read painted more beautiful imagery in my mind fueling my imagination more so than ever.
Lately (although mostly all my life) I’ve been dreaming of Paris. A trip is in the works, yet I can’t wait to experience it myself. I’ve been reading the book, Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Band and this spoke to me:
Europe had that effect on me, ever since I stepped off the plan for the first time in college. I felt more like myself here: as though my love of art and history was natural and my inability to name the latest rock band didn’t matter. In Paris, the past is always with you: you look at it, walk over it, sit on it. I had to stop myself from grabbing Gwendal’s arm as we walked up the narrow passage to the entrance: Pardon me, sir, I couldn’t help but notice; the cobblestones outside your door are older than my country. The idea thrilled me. I’ve always been a bit of an old-fashioned girl.

Nordstrom Designer Preview 2013

All images taken by me and copyright Team Photogenic.

Nordstrom always knows the way to my heart. Last Thursday I spent my evening with Oscar, Micheal, and Valentino (...just to name a few) lusting over their fall collection. Magnificent right???

Happy Birthday to My Beau!

love, youa love, youa
Images taken from his birthday weekend celebration.

There are very distinct moments I can remember of when I fell a little more in love with my beau and here's one of them...

We were having drinks with his friends at a bar and someone asked me what I did for a living. I mentioned I photograph fashion events aside from my day job but I just loved photography in general. My beau then adds, 'She's so great at it. She'll have to show you her work sometimes...' and goes on talking about my photography. I blush and feel my insecurity as a photographer creep in. A million thoughts are going through my head of all my short comings of being a photographer (meanwhile my beau continues to proudly talking about my work). Quickly I tried to interject with all those negative thoughts, he knows this but instead of letting me verbalize them he reaches out to hold my hand and continues to talk positively about my work. I have no choice but to listen. As I am listening to him, I am overwhelmed with emotions for how much this man believes in me... and just like that I fall a little more in love with him. In addition to all the other great things he does for me, he is my biggest support. He pushes me outside of my comfort zone, he challenges my artistic view in photography and wherever we may be he patiently waits for me to capture my perfect photo. I am so blessed to have him as my partner in adventure.

Happy Birthday to my beau who is the most amazingly supportive, patient and loving person I know.

Fireworks over Lake Union... something I've been thinking about capturing on my Pentax. When in doubt I always use a cheap roll of film to test. There was also a voice in the back of my head nagging me to bring my tripod but I decided I was too cool for that. I guess this is what I get for being too cool - blurry photos.

On another note, thanks to my beau for the amazing view. You are a dream come true! xo
