Happy Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate! I love getting dressed up and owning my costume... speaking like I'm from the 40's, being a little proper asking for my cigarette to be lit even though it's fake. ;) Here's part two of our Halloween series of smoking in the bathroom...

Smoking in the Bathroom

How gorgeous is Mailee as Audrey Hepburn for Halloween?! I took these photos of Mailee in my bathroom as we were getting ready. Mailee made us these super cool vintage cigarette holders and we pretended to smoke. I guess practice does makes perfection because I almost got in trouble at the Halloween party we went to when I pretended I was smoking in doors...

Finding Inspiration

Lately the only two things that excite me are the presidential debate and my imaginary crock pot. Yes, you read that right, a crock pot. The presidential debate is understandable but my obsession with a crock pot... not so much. It all started on Tuesday when I was getting tired of eating out too much. I missed having home cooked meals so the thought of a crock pot popped in my head. Since then I've built a list of recipes in my head to try with my nonexistent crock pot. I've been dreaming of all the delicious foods that will greet me after a long day of work. When I informed my beau of my grand plan, his facial expression said it all... I've lost it! So this means one thing to me... I am lacking inspiration. I spent the rest of the week trying to find inspiration. I started by going to my favorite bookstore, reading my favorite blogs and then as I was looking through my photos I remember these photos I took back in August for the opening at Wing Luke Museum. The exhibit is called Fashion: Workroom to Runway which showcases Asian Americans who's made an impact on the fashion industry. At that time, I was also going through a rut and decided to visit this exhibit to spark some inspiration. This is what inspired me...
What do you do when you're lacking inspiration?

Road Trip

A couple of weekends ago I convinced my beau to go on a long road trip to Oregon. As part of the transportation special, I promised I'd drive throughout the entire trip with my cute little car. Let's just say three hours into our road trip I grew tired and cranky... just like the two year old we don't have. Girlfriend fail. I learned quickly after sitting in the passenger side at the gas station that it was much more fun to be the story teller, trivia reader and karaoke host than it was to concentrate on directions and... well, the road. ;)

Here's what our road trip consisted of...

While we wait two hours to try Pok Pok a super delish Thai restaurant in southeast Portland, we hung out across the street and enjoyed a few drinks with food truck goodies and a live band.

We stayed at our favorite hotel in Portland - the Nines. I love the decor and couldn't resist snapping some pictures of the details in our room and the lobby. That evening we had drinks at the Sky Bar on the top floor and the following morning we had brunch at Urban Farmer in the main lobby.

We stopped by Stumptown for some coffee before our long drive to Cannon Beach.

You can always associate Cannon Beach with the Haystack Rock. Every time I've seen it there's always been a low cloud of fog around it... even on this gorgeous day.
After spending a day in Cannon Beach, we drove 4 hours back home... well, my beau did. I can still remember how antsy I felt in the car and although it was such a fun trip, I don't think I will be taking a long road trip in a long time.

It's In the Details

Here are a few of the pretty things that made up the Nordstrom Fall Fashion show I photographed a few weeks ago as part of Bellevue Fashion Week for Team Photogenic. Often times when I'm shooting a runway show I miss the details of the handbag, shoes or jewelry because I'm so focused on getting the overall look as they walk down the runway.

Black and White

...my two favorite color combo. It's so easy to wear and accessorizing with something as simple as a faux fur shawl collar keeps it from getting boring...

happy weekend...

Nordstrom Fall Fashion Show

Sequin, boots and faux fur are a few of my favorite things this fall and I'm happy to see Nordstrom show a lot of that at the Fall Fashion show this year. Something new this season is the color 'oxblood' which is basically burgundy if you ask me. ;)

BFF

If there was a perfect way to meet my BFF this would have been it. I was shooting a fashion show at the Braven in Bellevue when I met Blake through a mutual friend. With her hair pin up in a big bun and dressed all posh in black she had sauve that would make any girl want to be her BFF. Needless to say we became instant friends and Blake invited me to a fashion show she was going to the following day. That next day we met up, had brunch, attended the fashion show, had another meal, watch a movie and went to happy hour. We ended up spending that entire day together. Our friendship developed quickly and naturally... I think a lot of it had to do with our love for fashion, food, champagne and girl time. When we were together we had the best time ever, we laughed a lot, dressed up for every occasion and loved exploring the city. Sadly about two years ago Blake moved back to South Cali and I've missed her dearly...

This past weekend Blake was in town visiting. We recapped how we met to my beau and the funny thing was we both went straight to the most important part - what we were wearing. We were so excited as we tried to recall all the details of our outfits that day. We spent most of the weekend reliving our good old days and I'm still paying for our late nights but it was so worth it.

Do you have a Blake in your life?

Fashion First Runway Show

Supporting local boutiques has always been important to me. Most of my investment pieces come from Nordstrom but the majority of my unique and trendy pieces are from boutiques. With my love of supporting local boutiques it was only natural for me to be a fan of Fashion First - a runway show that takes place once a year featuring looks from local boutiques. Some of this year's line up included La Ree Boutique, The Finerie, Sway and Cake, and Mercer. These are some of my random shots from the show...
